Phil has been running The Fixit Factory from his garage in the Christchurch suburb of Dallington for 4 years.
While taking some garden waste to the Bromley transfer station that the seed of the Fixit Factory first took root. Phil approached a couple dumping some perfectly good furniture.
Do you know that half of this stuff can be easily fixed and reused? he said.
But they just shrugged. Couldn’t be bothered.
He came away thinking what a crime it was that so many things were being thrown away.
Phil hates the throwaway, consumerism culture that is filling landfills today.
